Parliament has less than 100 days to pass a new law that will forever change the way our leaders are elected to government. This is the most important law since the dawn of democracy.
We call on every South African to make their voice heard and join the call for direct elections to become law in the next 100 days as required by the Constitutional Court.
Government has proposed a new bill that says once independent candidates gain a certain number of votes in an election, any surplus votes will be discarded. This means you could be discriminated against for your political choices.
Hundreds of thousands of votes could be discarded at the next national election and for elections to come. This offends the Constitutional principles of fairness and equality and creates an unequal society where only some people’s votes count.
